Here are several basic rules that will significantly help your blackjack skills. You can also practise with this blackjack software to help improve your game after you’ve read these rules.

1. What is a running count. Many players ask me about the running count versus the true count. This terminology is used by card counters. Simply put,In simple terms, the running count is a positive – negative variance of cards played.

2. Define a True count. This is harder, and needs to be calculated to help you to increase your edge. A blackjack player needs to count the number of decks being used, and the player needs to divide the running count by this deck number to come to the true count.

3. Always make sure you are aware of ALL house rules. They can change from place to place, and can change your game significantly.

4. Can I make money at this? Generally speaking, if you are a rookie then you need to think of it as entertainment. Start out playing online for free until you can understand the game. Once you step into a casino, start at a very low table limit until you become better and build your confidence. The answer is – yes, of course you can win at it. But it requires practise.

5. Be wary of your surroundings. There are many distractions in the casino, such as players chatting, and so forth. Its important that you remain concentrated on the game and what is happening around you.

6. Know your limit and stay with it. Say you are on a two day winning streak at your usual limit. You may feel invincible and decide to move to a bigger table. Don’t do it. Know your limit!

7. Rule number #7 is simply to enjoy the game. If you are not having fun, or you are stressed out, then perhaps Black Jack is not for you!
